Annual Report on the Status of Human Rights in Montenegro Presented
21.12.2009.
"There are no systematic human rights violations in Montenegro. However, there are some problematic aspects to it - freedom of expression, discrimination, status of Roma and displaced persons, domestic violence, torture etc. The rising trend of ethnic distance, upheld by public opinion polls, is an issue of concern. Another point of concern is the fact that the key link in the state system of human rights protection, the authorized minister Ferhat Dinosha, publicly voiced extremely negative views pertaining to rights of LGBT population, interethnic marriages, as well as neglected the Roma language while listing minority languages", is stated in editorial to the Youth Initiative for Human Rights' (YIHR) annual report on the status of human rights in Montenegro, presented on December 21, 2009, at the press conference held at this organization's Office in Podgorica. »» |
